that crazy NYPD cop and other people unfit to do their jobs
So the NYPD lieutenant from Queens, named Maglione, who once reported seeing a "demon" at police headquarters and urinated on himself because he refused to stop praying to go to the bathroom, is suing New York City to get his gun and shield back, claiming supervisors took them from him because of his religious practices. news story here

While his lawsuit is, hopefully, ridiculous enough to be dismissed (after all, he was discharged by the medical board, not by an evil anti-christian supervisor), a lot of people in the USA refuse doing the jobs they've signed up for, citing religious conflict, from Muslim grocery store workers who don't touch alcohol or pork (even vacuum-sealed) to Christian pharmacists who refuse selling the contraception or that nurse, Sylvia Olona, who had a habit of forcefully removing female contraception devices from her patients. And all those people are actually protected from being fired by several state legislatures and one of the last executive orders of Bush administration.
What's also scary is that Maglione was on the force for 22 years.

Reminds me of the time when a very thoughtful and imaginative friend of mine went to get some psychotherapy for some issues that'd been costing her sleep, and the state social worker literally just said that Jesus was trying to speak with her and she should go to church. After a few similar go rounds, she stopped trying and I don't believe she went back.
It's difficult enough for an intelligent person to go looking for help like that, and to get that kind of response? WTF, my hard-won taxes are paying for this moron's job. >.

Now if your friend was really imaginative...

"Thank you so much! I went to church like you said and everything is fine now."
"Oh that's wonderful!"
"Yes, I talked with Jesus and he told me just what I needed to do to set things right with god."
"Ah I see. And what do.... um..... what's that on your hands?"
"It's blood! The holy blood of our lord! You see he was trapped in the devil body of the priest and now I've freed him. See?"
Hand stupid prick of a "psychotherapist" a nice sack of bloody giblets. Blood orgy, yay!!!

I'm going to create a religion where it's against the rules of the religion to do any work whatsoever. Then, I'll find some high paying job that involves lots of manual labor, and sue like crazy when I'm fired for my religious beliefs.

I'd say something but best not I'd annoy those who are religious. ;)

Just watched "Religulous" last night and reaffirmed my own belief system... that WE have every right to tell people that we think that they are completely full of shit and that they can shove it if they don't like it. Freedom OF religion must include freedom FROM religion.

Maybe 21 of those 22 years he's been quite normal. And then he suddenly went apeshit bananas with Jesus topping.
